About Leigh DeNucci
Leigh DeNucci has been a teacher at Brighten Academy since it opened in 2006. She was previously a teacher in the Douglas County School System for 15 years. She taught at Eastside, Mt. Carmel, Sweetwater, Bill Arp, and Chapel Hill Elementary Schools. She has a Bachelor's Degree from Auburn University and a Master's Degree from Piedmont College, both in Early Childhood Education. Mrs. DeNucci has completed Teacher Support Specialist training and is certified to teach gifted education. She serves on the board at Brighten Academy. She lives with her husband, Daniel, and their children Mary Cate, Madison, Meredith, and Nicholas. » read more...

Homework assignments are sent home weekly on the Friday before they are due. They are designed to be completed on the night assigned and turned in the following day. This helps students review concepts and keeps parents informed about what we are learning in class. In addition to the assignments on the homework sheet, students should read 15 - 20 minutes each weeknight and record the name of the book in his or her agenda. » read more...

Snack Volunteers
We like to have a light snack each afternoon to "re-energize" our brains. Please send easy, healthy snacks that can be eaten while completing classwork. Some suggestions are cereal, pretzels, fruit, cheese, crackers, etc. You may send in the snacks at the beginning of the week or each day, whichever is most convenient. » read more...
